Our steel industry roots span three generations.  Our company was founded by James J. McLaughlin in 1971, and today has sales exceeding $70 million.  Mr. McLaughlin began his steel career in 1965 with Laclede Steel in Alton, IL.  He was a highly successful salesperson, and worked out of Chicago, IL. 

Mr. McLaughlin was not the first person in his family to work in the steel market.  His father, James A. McLaughlin, was a long-time salesperson for Central Steel & Wire, too.  In the late 1970's, Mr. McLaughlin was joined by his brother, Bill McLaughlin, who had been a successful salesperson for Republic Steel.  In 1989, the third generation of the McLaughlin family joined MMS, James P. McLaughlin. 

The three of them comprise our ownership group and are actively involved in the company sales and operations today.
